The changing slide show above is currently of a 1929 Martin 000-18 that came into our shop with rather severe top problem. It had been flat picked to death. The sound hole was half gone and wood putty put in its place with the purfling painted on! It also had a great big Gibson pickguard installed to cover up the gouged out top. You can see what we did from the pictures to fix the problem.

I chose to feature this one first on my Home page because this was a total internet job, as the guitar was purchased from a guy in Texas, by an oil guy who lived in Saudi Arabia. It was sent to my shop in Philadelphia immediately after purchase to be restored. When I was finished I shipped it up to the owner's home in Maine, where he will retire to this coming January. None of us ever saw one another!

The slide whow will feature different topics about every two weeks or so. I'm going to move the 000-18 into a full blown article as it was an interesting top repair. I really hope that you take the time to enjoy our site, because we are all about doing quality work, and pleasing our customers. Bringing back some old classics from the proverbial brink of destruction is what we live for. These things are getting rarer all the time. Finding vintage pieces in "mint" condition these days is harder and harder. We try to preseve what can and restore what we must.

We also sell a lot of parts and accesories, and the occasional nice guitar or amp. We custom build for people too. I find building to be easier by far than restoring, because you're dealing with fresh wood, and starting form scratch. Sounds strange but it is true. Undoing and redoing is harder than building new. Hope you like the new look of our site, and we welcome any suggestions on improvements that you may have just click on the contact button above and E-mail us.

As always,

May prosperity, peace and good tones be yours.
