Links and thoughts on some of our favorite Companies.

THD Electronics is owned by one very smart, talented, tonefully knowledgable, and all around decent person by the name of Andy Marshall. (No he is not related to Jim Marshall of Marshall amps in case any of you are wondering.) Andy built his first guitar amp at the age of 8! He's now in his mid-thirties. It is safe to say that he has a few years of experience in amps. His clients include just about every major name guitarist in the business. THD makes a number of great guitar amps and related products, notably the Hotplate® power attenuators, Yellow Jacket® tube converters, Reactive Rectifiers® and the best damn sounding amps and output transformers that I've ever heard. Period. THD's sight looks great, and all of their products are first class. Check this site out!

What can you say about Gibson guitars? This is certainly a company that needs no introduction. Being rich in both history and experience allows them to build some of the coolest instruments in the world. Their website is equally good, as is their customer service and product guarantee. Superior Guitar Works enjoys the distinct pleasure of being one of Gibson's A level four star service centers. Enjoy their site!

The Fishman corp has been a pioneer in the manufacture of all types of pickups for acoustic instruments. They make a wide range of pickups for all types of acoustic instruments. From the low end "Thinline" to the top shelf "Blender" systems, Fishman is sure to have a pickup to suit your needs. Superior Guitars has been a Fishman dealer for years.

If you are looking for a really accurate sounding single coil tone without the hum inherent in ALL single coil pickups, then Joe Barden's pickups are simply the way to go. Joe's pickup design simply sparkles with high end and has plenty of quack as well. What's really great about Joe's pickups is that you can easily overdrive an amp with them because their output is an excellent balance between clean and mean. If you've ever wondered what your Strat or Tele would sound like if you could goose the output a little bit, get rid of the hum, and still retain the tonal characteristics of your instrument, you should seriously give these guys a try.

Bill and Pat Bartolini design pickups from a completely different standpoint than anybody else. Bill's designs are living proof that an engineering degree is not antithetical to great sound. In fact "Barts" are the pickup of choice for most bass players. They are found as standard equipment in the basses of many high end makers. Bill takes a very scientific approach to the design of his pickups and shapes the tonal response by taking all aspects of the instrument into consideration, including the frequency response of the type of wood the guitar is made out of!

And you know what? These pickup systems sound great! Bartolini's come in many different configurations of both active and passive design, and will fit almost any insrtument. The typical bass pickup tone is warm and punchy along with exceptional clarity. The EQ choices that are provided are almost endless resulting in an instrument with exceptional tone and versatility. And if you're a guitar player that's looking for very precise control over your tone, and you aren't afraid to hear everything that your playing, (No hiding with a set of these!) then you should check out Bartolini.

Quality with a capitol Q! Tom Anderson's products are all that! His guitars are exceptionally good, and I doubt that anyone could argue that. Since we've been on the subject of pickups, all I can say about Tom's pickups is that they are both beautiful to look at and listen to. The first time I took one out of the box to install it into a customer's guitar, I was struck by the incredibly high level of quality and ruggedness of construction. Tom offers about 30 different models of pickups that run the tonal gamut from squeaky clean to full on maximum overdrive. And can you say quiet? Tom's pickups are so noise free that you almost need to look at your amp to tell if it's on. The tone of all his pickups is well balanced and soulful regardless of the output range chosen. Definitely top shelf stuff.

In my mind this is another company that needs no introduction. These folks sell the finest vacuum tubes of any company out there. If you don't think there could be a difference between the average brand and a set of Groove Tubes you are simply fooling yourself. Try a complete set and hear the difference. In most cases the tonal improvement is nothing short of amazing. Be sure that your amp is properly biased and setup when installing a set of these or any other tubes. Yes, it does make a difference. Additionally, be aware of the numbering system that is used by the folks at Groove Tubes. If you by a tube matched to a low number, say 1-3; then these tubes will begin to distort much sooner and heavier than higher numbered sets. In other words, the higher up the scale of 1-10 that you go the harder and cleaner sounding your amp will be. There is a huge tonal difference between a 3 and a 7 in their rating system. So be aware of this and what the numbers mean. Feel free to call, or E-Mail us with any questions you may have on selecting a good tonal choice for your musical application. Superior Guitar Works has been a dealer of Groove Tubes and GT Electronics since 1992.

MOJO Musical Supply Mojo musical supply is a company that has come a long way since the early 90's. Back then Nate Kramer was selling the products out of a very small space and he would be the one to answer the phone. Nowadays Nate's the big boss, but they still have a very friendly way of doing business. Mojo is a great place to go if you want to find any type of part for restoring your old amp, or even building one from scratch. They sell everything from Tolex and grill cloths to transformers and resistors. So if you need a part for that old Plexi, AC-30, or Super Reverb chances are these folks will have it, or know where to get it.

Superior Guitar Works is a dealer for any of Mojo's products and will be glad to assist you in your choice of purchases.

WD Music WD stands for Wendy Davis. She and her husband started this company making pickguards out of their home a long time ago. I'm sure Virginia Slims would love to have her as a spokeswoman because she has "Come a long way baby!" If you need new or after market guitar parts these people have a pretty darn good selection. You're not going to find NOS or Vintage stuff here, but you will find a part to fit. Their quality ranges from high to low end units, as well as custom made pickguards and such. WD has an extensive line of Gotoh products which includes some pretty nice tuners and bridges, screws, switches, and other hardware galore.

They have their own line of pickups which is reasonably priced and sounds far better than you think it would given the money. They also carry some pickups in configuration and sizes that nobody else has. For example lipstick pickups in any color you want. WD literally has thousands of items in their inventory. So take a look see.
